Butter Up Your Wedding Guests

In my opinion, butter should be a main food group. Wasn’t it Julia Child who said, “with enough butter, anything is good?” She was a wise cook and a devoted foodie, so I’m thinking we should adhere to everything she says.

But I’ll be honest with you, the options you can find at your local grocery market is not what I would consider worthy of praise. They lack that je ne sais quoi that other butters from France have. Their melt-in your-mouth, salty, and flavorful quality will change your life for good. Try finding a local French delicatessen, like the Paris Grocery in Seattle, to see what I’m talking about.

After reading through my ramblings you are probably wondering what my love of butter has to do with weddings. Well, it so happens that I came across this lovely idea from Martha Stewart Weddings to serve gourmet butters at your wedding reception! Make each table’s pat of butter stand out with flavorful herbs and spices like these four featured combinations, including turmeric and mustard seed; Asian nori and sesame; smoked chipotle and lime; and lemon basil. Your butter-loving guests will bond over these wonderful flavors, and you’ll feel victorious for putting together the perfect foodie wedding!

Mimosa Bar for Your Bridal Brunch

A real foodie loves brunch. And why not? Saturdays and Sundays spent around the best breakfast in town, gabbing with friends, and having the excuse to drink a cocktail at 10 in the morning is a dream come true. In my honest opinion, the bridal brunch is the real winner of all the wedding events. Don’t worry…I’m only half joking.

When planning your bridal brunch there are plenty of details you have to figure out such as the invitations, the food, the decor. But whatever you do, please don’t skimp on the drinks. And what I really mean is please don’t skimp on the mimosa bar. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of drinking a fine mimosa, it is traditional drink of equal parts champagne and orange juice. It’s absolutely divine. But if that sounds a little boring to you, don’t fret. There are plenty of ways to liven up your mimosa. Include pineapple, strawberry, grapefruit, pomegranate, or blood orange juice as options for your mimosa bar and have bowls of fresh fruit like strawberries, peaches, and blueberries for your guests to add into their drinks.

When I saw that this couple dawning Tattly’s “Ok Let’s Do This” tats for their wedding, I was impressed. Getting married is a huge and exciting leap and these tattoos encompass all those wonderful emotions every couple experiences on their wedding day!

Cocktail Hour Already? Springtime-Inspired Cocktails

It’s no secret that we love a good cocktail over here at Adorii, as we already established here and here. The crush of the ice, the quick whoosh sound as they pour your favorite alcohol, the shake shake of the cocktail shaker bringing together that glorious, mouth-watering concoction, the enticing pour into the cup, that ding as they place the finishing touch , and then the clink clink as you and your friends cheers and proclaim once again, ”thank goodness there’s such a thing as happy hour,” is music to our ears.

Anytime is a good time for a cocktail, so I figured we celebrate and cheers to some of our favorite springtime-inspired cocktails. The Grapefruit Margarita is a subtle twist on an old classic. The Whiskey Smash is a fabulous medley of mint, lemon, and oh yes, bourbon. The Penicillin (a strange name indeed) is a tasty combination of blended scotch whiskey, fresh lemon, sweetened honey-ginger syrup, and a dash of Islay single malt to give it that smokey finish. The Strawberry Grapefruit Smash is mixture of your favorite spring flavors like strawberry, grapefruit, and a touch of mint.

Whether you’re celebrating a new engagement, taste testing cocktails for your springtime wedding or drinking just because, these cocktails will surely hit the spot. Have fun, cheers, and as always, bottoms up!

Some Much Needed Love for the Bridesmaids

The wedding is so predominately focused on the bride and groom, that we often forget how each person in the wedding party has played a huge role in the development of the bride and groom and their readiness to finally tie the knot. This pin-worthy image from Emily and Ed’s Great Gatsby Garden Wedding as seen on The Lane, gave me a subtle reminder of how important this event is not only to the bride, but also to her bridesmaids.

Each one of her lovely bridesmaids has had a very special part in her life. There’s the bridesmaid who has been there from the beginning, who has lived with her through those dreaded teenage years, first crushes, first loves, and who was there to comfort her during the heartache. Then there’s the bridesmaid she met in college who knew how to keep life fun when she was swamped with exams and papers, who was there when she was trying to figure out who she was and who she wanted to be, and maybe the one who finally introduced her to the guy she decided was the one. And then there’s the bridesmaid who’s her trusted sister. Although they went through rough times and sibling rivalry, she was always her support and encouragement through everything. Each one of these bridesmaids have been there for the ups and downs of her life, and they are all important as she celebrates this exciting new life as a married gal.

The beautiful laced wedding dress and those glamorous bridesmaid dresses in this photo are stunning but don’t just re-pin this for inspiration, but as a reminder to remember how each of your bridesmaids played a special role in your life and your wedding.
